Stat. tit. 74, § 74-215","heading":"Facilities for investigations - Exhibits and information -","body":"Powers and duties of State Auditor and Inspector.\n\nAll officers of the state and counties of the state and all\n\nofficers and employees of other institutions mentioned in this\n\narticle, must afford reasonable facilities for the investigation\n\nprovided for in this article, and all such officers, manager and\n\nemployees must make written exhibits to the Auditor and Inspector\n\nunder oath in such form and in such manner as he may prescribe, and\n\neach and every person so required who shall refuse and neglect to\n\nmake such written exhibit, or to make or to give such information as\n\nmay be required by said State Auditor and Inspector, shall be deemed\n\nguilty of a misdemeanor; and if any person in making such exhibit or\n\ngiving such information or affording any statement required under\n\nthis article, on his oath, shall knowingly swear falsely concerning\n\nthe same, he shall be deemed guilty of the felony of perjury and\n\npunished accordingly. The State Auditor and Inspector shall have\n\nfull power and authority for the various purposes named to examine\n\nbooks, papers, accounts, bills, vouchers and any other documents, or\n\nproperty of any or all of the aforesaid state institutions, all\n\nstate officers and custodians of any county or state funds, also to\n\nexamine under oath, county or state officers and custodians of\n\ncounty and state funds aforesaid. The State Auditor and Inspector\n\nis empowered to issue subpoenas and administer oath in the\n\nperformance of his duty, and any persons refusing access to said\n\nexaminer to any such books or papers, or any officer, clerk,\n\nemployee, or other persons aforesaid, who shall obstruct access and\n\nrefuse to search for any required information, or who shall in any\n\nmanner hinder the examination required by this article of the\n\nrecords, and books of the officers of public institutions or\n\npertaining to the county and state officers aforesaid, shall be\n\ndeemed guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be liable on conviction to\n\na fine of not more than One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) or\n\nimprisonment in the county jail for a period of not more than one\n\n(1) year or by both such fine and imprisonment in the discretion of\n\nthe court.\n\nR.L. 1910, § 8122.
