It shall be the purpose of the Commission and the Department\n\nto:\n\n1. Conserve and protect the parkland under the control of the\n\nCommission;\n\n2. Oversee the operation and maintenance of the state’s lodges\n\nand golf courses;\n\n3. Promote tourism by publicity and dissemination of\n\ninformation;\n\n4. Assist in promotion of events sponsored by municipalities,\n\nassociations, and organizations commemorating special events of\n\nlocal or historical interest;\n\n5. Educate the public on the people, places, events, culture,\n\nand history of Oklahoma; and\n\n6. Function in an advisory capacity to the Governor, State\n\nLegislature, state agencies, municipalities, and to private\n\norganizations on matters pertaining to tourism and recreation.\n\nB.
