Stat. tit. 74, § 74-2216","heading":"Park rangers - Duties","body":"Park Rangers, subject to the policies of the Commission, shall:\n\n1. Obtain a commission as an officer or employee pursuant to\n\nthe certification specified in Section 3311 of Title 70 of the\n\nOklahoma Statutes and by the Division of State Parks;\n\n2. Secure the parks and property of the Department and maintain\n\nlaw and order therein;\n\n3. Maintain the powers of peace officers except the serving or\n\nexecution of civil process, have in all parts of the state the same\n\npowers with respect to criminal matters and enforcement of the laws\n\nrelating thereto as sheriffs, highway patrolmen and police officers\n\nin their respective jurisdictions and possess all immunities and\n\nmatters of defense now available or hereafter made available to\n\nsheriffs, the highway patrol, and police officers in any suit\n\nbrought against them resulting from acts done in the course of their\n\nemployment;\n\n4. Possess law enforcement jurisdiction over state parks,\n\nincluding all facilities located therein;\n\n5. Serve a probationary period of twelve (12) months. The\n\nDivision of State Parks Director may extend the probationary period\n\nfor up to three (3) additional months provided that the employee and\n\nthe Office of Management and Enterprise Services are notified in\n\nwriting as to such action and the reasons therefor. At any time\n\nduring a probationary period the employment of a park ranger may be\n\nterminated in accordance with Department procedure and at the\n\ndiscretion of the Director of State Parks. Retention of the\n\nemployee, after expiration of the probationary period, shall entitle\n\nthe employee to be classified as a permanent employee;\n\n6. Provide law enforcement protection and enforcement pursuant\n\nto the terms of interlocal agreements authorized by the Commission\n\nwith other entities of government or federally recognized tribes in\n\nthe state; and\n\n7. Remain in the Oklahoma Law Enforcement Retirement System if\n\npromoted to the Park Manager job family classification series,\n\nprovided they maintain their certification specified in Section 3311\n\nof Title 70 of the Oklahoma Statutes, perform the requisite training\n\nrequired by the Chief Park Ranger, and meet all other requirements,\n\npolicies, and rules of the Department and laws of the state.","path":["OK Code","Title 74"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os74.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"de687d23276cb76a9a3d53d3a1a9dce41969f2701b8aa55755d893aef88e69ea","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-74-74-2215","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-74-74-2217"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
