Stat. tit. 74, § 74-241","heading":"Survey created - Supervision - Object and duties","body":"(a) The Archeological Survey of the State of Oklahoma, located at\n\nNorman, Oklahoma, shall be under the direction and supervision of\n\nthe Regents of the University of Oklahoma and shall be known as the\n\nOklahoma Archeological Survey.\n\n(b) The Oklahoma Archeological Survey shall have for its object\n\nand duties the following:\n\n(1) Excavation of historical sites, ruins and mounds for the\n\npurpose of securing data and objects relating to early man in\n\nOklahoma;\n\n(2) Fundamental research in Oklahoma archeology and\n\nencouragement of public cooperation in the preservation of Oklahoma\n\nantiquities;\n\n(3) Research in and study of anthropology and related social and\n\nphysical sciences both prior to excavation and thereafter in order\n\nto plan and aid in the discovery of archeological sites and\n\nartifacts and in their proper assessment and preservation once\n\ndiscovered;\n\n(4) Publication of findings in terms of their scientific and\n\npopular and cultural values;\n\n(5) Display and custodianship of relics, artifacts, sites and\n\nother tangible results of the operations of the survey;\n\n(6) Educational activities providing a stimulus to archeological\n\nefforts and the encouragement of archeological societies, parks and\n\nmuseums; and\n\n(7) To initiate, operate and maintain a program of archeology\n\nwhich shall include the specific responsibilities set out above\n\nwhich shall not be limited to those areas of action.","path":["OK Code","Title 74"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os74.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"2295a142f9abc10d9ad4a9108e3c529bf43580c96124e494fa945c0ec1c561c2","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-74-74-2404","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-74-74-245"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
