The Climate Office of the State of Oklahoma located at\n\nNorman, Oklahoma, shall be under the direction and supervision of\n\nthe Board of Regents of the University of Oklahoma and shall be\n\nknown as the Oklahoma Climatological Survey. The Oklahoma\n\nClimatological Survey is hereby re-created, to continue until July\n\n1, 2026, in accordance with the provisions of the Oklahoma Sunset\n\nLaw.\n\nB. The director of the Oklahoma Climatological Survey shall be\n\nappointed by the Board and shall either serve as the state\n\nclimatologist or appoint another current employee of the Survey to\n\nserve as state climatologist. The salary of the director shall be\n\ndetermined by the Board.\n\nC. The Oklahoma Climatological Survey shall have for its object\n\nand duties the following:\n\n1. To acquire, archive, process and disseminate, in the most\n\ncost-effective way possible, all climate and weather information\n\nwhich is or could be of value to policy and decision makers in the\n\nstate;\n\n2. To act as the representative of the state in all\n\nclimatological and meteorological matters both within and outside\n\nthe state when requested to do so by the legislative or executive\n\nbranches of the state government;\n\n3. To prepare, publish and disseminate periodic regular climate\n\nsummaries for those individuals, agencies and organizations whose\n\nactivities are related to the welfare of the state and are affected\n\nby climate and weather;\n\n4. To conduct and report on studies of climate and weather\n\nphenomena of significant socioeconomic importance to the state;\n\n5. To evaluate the significance of natural and man-made,\n\ndeliberate and inadvertent changes or modifications in important\n\nfeatures of the climate and weather affecting the state, and to\n\nreport this information to those agencies and organizations in the\n\nstate who are likely to be affected by such changes or\n\nmodifications; and\n\n6. To maintain and operate the Oklahoma Mesonetwork, a\n\nstatewide environmental monitoring network which is overseen by the\n\nMesonet Steering Committee, comprised of representatives of the\n\nUniversity of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University according to\n\nits Memorandum of Agreement. The director of the Oklahoma\n\nClimatological Survey shall be accountable for executing the\n\npolicies of the Mesonet Steering Committee.\n\nD. The director is authorized to certify copies as being\n\nauthentic reproductions of weather records held in the state.\n\nE.
