Stat. tit. 74, § 74-314","heading":"Investigation of fires - Report to fire marshal - Record","body":"of fires.\n\nThe State Fire Marshal and the chief of the fire department of\n\nevery city or village in which a fire department is established, and\n\nthe mayor of every incorporated village or town in which no fire\n\ndepartment exists, and the sheriff of the county shall investigate\n\nthe cause, origin and circumstances of every fire occurring in such\n\ncity, village, town or county by which property has been destroyed\n\nor damaged, and shall especially make investigation as to whether\n\nsuch fire was the result of carelessness or design. Said\n\ninvestigation shall begin within two (2) days, not including\n\nSundays, of the occurrence of such fire, and the said Fire Marshal\n\nshall have the right to supervise and direct such investigation\n\nwhenever he deems it necessary or expedient. The officer making the\n\ninvestigation of fires, shall forthwith notify said Fire Marshal and\n\nshall within a week of the occurrence of the fire furnish to the\n\nsaid Fire Marshal a written statement of all facts relating to the\n\ncause and origin of the fire, and such other information as may be\n\ncalled for by blanks provided by said Marshal. The State Fire\n\nMarshal shall keep in his office a record of all fires occurring in\n\nthe state, together with all facts, statistics and circumstances\n\nincluding the origin of the fires, which may be determined by the\n\ninvestigation provided by this act; such records shall at all times\n\nbe open to the public inspection, and such portions of it as the\n\ninsurance commissioner may deem necessary shall be transcribed and\n\nforwarded to him within fifteen (15) days from the 1st day of\n\nJanuary of each year.","path":["OK Code","Title 74"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os74.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"b12b555598ea514b654b4f5a4c66eefc259ebe620032833d760fa617cfc2d58b","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-74-74-3122","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-74-74-315"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
