This act shall be known and may be cited as the “Health Care\n\nWorkforce Resources Act”.\n\nB. There is hereby created the Health Care Workforce Resources\n\nCenter whose purpose shall be to coordinate, facilitate and\n\ncommunicate statewide efforts to meet supply and demand needs for\n\nOklahoma’s health care workforce. The initial focus for the Center\n\nshall include health care professionals in short supply including,\n\nbut not limited to:\n\n1. Nurses;\n\n2. Respiratory therapists;\n\n3. Pharmacists;\n\n4. Imaging technologists;\n\n5. Medical laboratory technologists and technicians;\n\n6. Surgical and scrub technicians;\n\n7. Physical therapists; and\n\n8. Psychiatrists.\n\nC. The Health Care Workforce Resources Center shall further\n\nfocus on:\n\n1. Data collection to support strategic decisions and policy\n\nrecommendations, to measure and evaluate efforts over time, and to\n\ncertify on an ongoing basis:\n\na. current health care worker supply and demand,\n\nb. future supply and demand, and\n\nc. gap analysis;\n\n2. Education and training to ensure Oklahoma’s current education\n\nand training systems have the resources and support necessary to\n\nproduce the number of health care workers needed in both the short\n\nand long term;\n\n3. Recruitment to increase the level of awareness among\n\nOklahoma’s youth and adults of the opportunities available in health\n\ncare, thereby increasing the number of individuals entering health\n\ncareers; and\n\n4. Retention to improve the job satisfaction and retention rates\n\nfor Oklahoma health care employees.\n\nD. The Health Care Workforce Resources Center shall act as a\n\nclearinghouse of information and activities focused on health care\n\nworkforce supply and demand. The state agencies, programs, task\n\nforces, boards and commissions with resources earmarked or dedicated\n\nto health care workforce efforts shall coordinate with the Center to\n\nstreamline resources, with the goal of eliminating duplication of\n\neffort.\n\nE. The Health Care Workforce Resources Center may accept funding\n\nthat includes but is not limited to:\n\n1. Monetary contributions;\n\n2. Contractual arrangements;\n\n3. In-kind services;\n\n4. Federal- and state-appropriated dollars;\n\n5. Private and public foundation grants; and\n\n6.
