The State Fire Marshal Commission shall appoint a full-time\n\nState Fire Marshal. The State Fire Marshal shall administer and\n\nenforce the provisions of law pertaining to the Office of the State\n\nFire Marshal to include, but not be limited to, fire and arson\n\ninvestigations, code enforcement, and public education under the\n\nsupervision of the State Fire Marshal Commission and in accordance\n\nwith Commission policies. The State Fire Marshal shall be a person\n\nof good moral character and a resident of Oklahoma at the time of\n\nappointment. The State Fire Marshal must have a minimum of ten (10)\n\nyears' experience in fire protection, fire prevention,\n\ninvestigation, or criminal justice, which may include experience\n\nwith any state, county, municipal, federal, military, or industrial\n\nfire protection or criminal justice agency. Successful completion\n\nof a degree in fire protection and prevention, criminal justice or\n\nadministration from an accredited college or university, may be\n\nsubstituted for experience on a year-to-year basis. The State Fire\n\nMarshal shall possess administrative ability and experience. The\n\nState Fire Marshal may be required to obtain certification as a\n\npeace officer in the State of Oklahoma from the Council on Law\n\nEnforcement Education and Training, and shall be subject to an\n\nextensive background investigation, psychological testing, and drug\n\ntesting. The Commission may also require additional qualifications.\n\nThe State Fire Marshal must have or be able to obtain a valid\n\nOklahoma driver license and be a citizen of the United States.\n\nB. The Commission shall appoint a full-time Assistant State\n\nFire Marshal upon recommendation from the State Fire Marshal. The\n\nAssistant State Fire Marshal must have a minimum of seven (7) years\n\nexperience in fire protection, fire prevention, investigations or\n\ncriminal justice, which may include experience with any state,\n\ncounty, municipal, federal, military, or industrial fire protection\n\nor criminal justice agency. Successful completion of a degree in\n\nfire protection and prevention, criminal justice, or administration\n\nfrom an accredited college or university, may be substituted for\n\nexperience on a year-to-year basis. The Assistant State Fire\n\nMarshal shall possess administrative ability and experience. The\n\nAssistant State Fire Marshal may be required to obtain certification\n\nas a peace officer from the Council on Law Enforcement and Education\n\nTraining, and shall be subject to an extensive background\n\ninvestigation, psychological testing, and drug testing.
