Stat. tit. 74, § 74-3315.3","heading":"Duties of Oklahoma Biological Survey","body":"In performing its duties pursuant to the provisions of the\n\nOklahoma State Register of Natural Heritage Areas Act, the Oklahoma\n\nBiological Survey shall:\n\n1. Identify potential natural areas for inclusion in the State\n\nRegister. Any person or organization may recommend the inclusion of\n\nany area within this state to the Survey;\n\n2. Notify the landowners of a potential natural area of the\n\nrecommendation of the area, explain the scope and intent of the\n\nState Register, and request permission to evaluate the site of the\n\narea;\n\n3. Evaluate the site of the potential natural area, upon\n\nreceiving permission from the landowners, to determine whether the\n\narea satisfies the criteria listed in Section 4 of this act;\n\n4. Invite the landowners of a natural area site which satisfies\n\nthe criteria to register the site in the State Register. To\n\nregister a site, a nonbinding agreement stating the intent of the\n\nlandowners to protect the characteristics of the natural area site\n\nis signed by the landowners and the Director of the Oklahoma\n\nBiological Survey. Upon the signing of the agreement, the Director\n\nshall present a plaque and a certificate of registration to the\n\nlandowners acknowledging their generosity and civic-mindedness;\n\n5. Protect the rights of the landowners by publicly listing a\n\nregistered natural area only with the consent of the landowners and\n\nby removing a natural area from the State Register at the request of\n\nthe landowners;\n\n6. Assist the landowners of registered natural areas by\n\nproviding information concerning such areas and by providing or\n\narranging for technical assistance and resource planning which may\n\nbe requested;\n\n7. Review periodically each registered natural area and remove\n\nfrom the State Register any area which has had its natural character\n\nor quality degraded through significant natural or man-made changes;\n\nand\n\n8.
