Governing boards of institutions of higher education or\n\nprivate schools, boards of education of public school districts and\n\nairport public trusts are authorized to establish campus police\n\ndepartments pursuant to the provisions of the Oklahoma Campus\n\nSecurity Act. In the case of airport public trusts operating more\n\nthan one airport, the board of trustees of such airport public trust\n\nis authorized to establish campus police departments at any airport\n\nit operates, but is not required to establish campus police\n\ndepartments at all airports operated by such airport public trust.\n\nThese boards may employ and commission campus police officers and\n\nmay designate uniforms, badges and insignia to be worn by such\n\nofficers and displayed on vehicles or other equipment of the\n\ndepartment. Campus police departments shall use the following words\n\nor phrases, alone or in any combination, in conjunction with the\n\nuniform, badges, insignia or on vehicles utilized by these\n\ndepartments: university police, university public safety department,\n\ncampus police department, campus police officer, campus public\n\nsafety department, campus public safety officer, airport officer,\n\nairport police officer, airport security officer, airport public\n\nsafety officer or any standardized title such as director, chief,\n\nmajor, captain, lieutenant, sergeant, or corporal. Upon\n\nappointment, each such officer shall be given a written commission,\n\nwith a photo identification, evidencing the officer's appointment\n\nand authority. The form of this commission shall be prescribed by\n\nthe governing boards specified in Section 360.15 et seq. of this\n\ntitle. Persons employed by a governing board which has established\n\na campus police department but who are not campus police officers\n\nshall not be permitted to wear uniforms, badges or insignia\n\nspecified in this subsection or receive commissions or photo\n\nidentification of the type provided campus police officers.\n\nB. The commission of a campus police officer may be suspended\n\nor revoked by the governing board for any reason. Such commission\n\nalso may be suspended or revoked by the district attorney in whose\n\ndistrict the officer is employed for cause related to the campus\n\npolice officer's ability to exercise the powers of such commission\n\nin the interest of public security or suspended or revoked by the\n\ndistrict attorney upon conviction of the campus police officer for\n\nlarceny, theft, embezzlement, false pretense, fraud, any\n\nnonconsensual sex offense, any offense involving a minor as a\n\nvictim, any offense involving the possession, use, distribution or\n\nsale of a controlled dangerous substance, or any offense involving a\n\nfirearm. The commission of a campus police officer convicted of a\n\nfelony or of a crime involving moral turpitude shall be revoked by\n\nthe district attorney upon conviction. The commission of a campus\n\npolice officer no longer employed by the governing board, except an\n\nofficer who is retiring, shall be relinquished to the board, or its\n\nrepresentative, at the time of cessation of the employment. When a\n\ncommission is revoked or relinquished, the campus police department\n\nshall take possession of all campus police officer insignia, badges,\n\nidentification cards and weapons issued to the officer. A person\n\nwho fails to relinquish the insignia, badges, identification cards\n\nor weapons, upon conviction, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor\n\nand shall be punished by the imposition of a fine of not more than\n\nOne Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) or by imprisonment in the county\n\njail for not to exceed one (1) year, or by both such fine and\n\nimprisonment.\n\nC. Governing boards shall notify the Council on Law Enforcement\n\nEducation and Training (CLEET) when an officer is commissioned or a\n\ncommission is relinquished or revoked. The governing boards shall\npunished by the imposition of a fine of not more than\n\nOne Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) or by imprisonment in the county\n\njail for not to exceed one (1) year, or by both such fine and\n\nimprisonment.\n\nC. Governing boards shall notify the Council on Law Enforcement\n\nEducation and Training (CLEET) when an officer is commissioned or a\n\ncommission is relinquished or revoked. The governing boards shall\n\nprovide CLEET with all information regarding commissioned officers\n\nrequested by CLEET.\n\nD.
