Except as otherwise provided by law, no state board or\n\ncommission shall employ any former member of the board or\n\ncommission.\n\nB. 1. A state board or commission may employ a former member\n\nof the board or commission if at least one (1) year has passed since\n\nthe term of office of the former member has expired or since the\n\ndate the former member resigned from the board or commission.\n\n2. An institution of higher education may employ a former\n\nmember of the board of regents which has oversight over the\n\ninstitution if at least six (6) months have passed since the term of\n\noffice of the former member has expired or since the date the former\n\nmember resigned from the board of regents.\n\nC. Notwithstanding subsection B of this section, a state board\n\nor commission may employ:\n\n1. A state employee who is an ex officio member of that board\n\nor commission and who is required by law to be a member of that\n\nboard or commission; or\n\n2. A former statewide elected official who was an ex officio\n\nmember of that board or commission if the former statewide elected\n\nofficial completed the term in office. This subsection shall not\n\napply to a statewide elected official who is an ex officio member of\n\na board or commission.\n\nD. Any person who willfully violates any provision of this\n\nsection shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof\n\nshall be punished by a fine of not less than Fifty Dollars ($50.00)\n\nnor more than One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00), or by imprisonment\n\nfor not longer than six (6) months or by both such fine and\n\nimprisonment, and upon conviction shall be ineligible for\n\nappointment to or employment in a position in state service and, if\n\nat the time of conviction is an employee of the state, the employee\n\nshall forfeit the position.","path":["OK Code","Title 74"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os74.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"11fc2c37d1fc15cc67e614ab6b23b9cdaef4d8829b2a030217e4c915eb3a6d7d","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-74-74-4256","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-74-74-4258"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
