In order to facilitate contracting capabilities of women-\n\nowned businesses with public and private entities, and to establish\n\ncriteria to certify such businesses, the Oklahoma Department of\n\nCommerce may establish a certification program for women-owned\n\nbusinesses which are in compliance with the definition of a small-\n\nbusiness concern as set forth in 15 U.S.C., Section 632 and in\n\nregulations promulgated pursuant to said section by the Small\n\nBusiness Administration. For purposes of this section, a women-\n\nowned business is one that is at least fifty-one percent (51%) owned\n\nand operated on a day-to-day basis by one or more females.\n\nB. The Department shall issue certificates to women-owned\n\nbusinesses which are small-business concerns as evidence of\n\nownership for the purpose of contracting with corporate or\n\ngovernmental entities. Certification shall be based upon\n\ninformation which is required by the Department from the business\n\nseeking certification and which will be subject to verification and\n\napproval by the Department. The Department shall require an\n\naffidavit of ownership, organization and decision-making authority,\n\nfinancial information and such other information deemed necessary by\n\nthe Department to evaluate a business for certification. The\n\nDepartment shall have the authority to promulgate rules and\n\nregulations to implement the provisions of this section. The\n\ncertification program shall not replace any certification procedures\n\nor programs of other governmental agencies.\n\nC. Certificates issued by the Department pursuant to this\n\nsection shall not be financial guarantees or personal approvals of\n\nbusinesses but shall be for the purpose of verifying that businesses\n\nare women-owned in order to enhance the ability of such businesses\n\nto contract with public and private entities and to access state and\n\nfederal information and assistance.","path":["OK Code","Title 74"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os74.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"1b13ae88c0d8365cda8ee9d0ce4a90c7f64b9b3e86b6e842cdae8413f39ad5ac","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-74-74-5010.3","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-74-74-5012"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
