The Oklahoma Center for the Advancement of Science and\n\nTechnology may develop and implement a nanotechnology pilot project\n\nto assist qualified Oklahoma companies in the process of applying\n\nnanotechnology through research, development, and manufacturing to\n\nimprove current products or create new, cutting-edge products. The\n\nproject shall be known as the “Oklahoma Nanotechnology Applications\n\nProject” (ONAP). The Oklahoma Center for the Advancement of Science\n\nand Technology may employ established program processes to award\n\nnanotechnology funds or may contract with other qualified entities\n\nto operate this pilot project.\n\nB. The Oklahoma Nanotechnology Applications Project is designed\n\nto provide Oklahoma with the ability to respond quickly to\n\nopportunities in the following technology focuses:\n\n1. Advanced materials/nanotechnology;\n\n2. Agricultural sciences;\n\n3. Aviation/aerospace;\n\n4. Biotechnology and life sciences;\n\n5. Energy and energy-related;\n\n6. Information technology and telecommunications;\n\n7. Sensors and sensor-related; and\n\n8. Meteorological science.\n\nC. The Board shall award nanotechnology funding or professional\n\nservice contracts only after finding that:\n\n1. The project is technically sound and will produce measurable\n\nresults;\n\n2. The project leads to innovation, new knowledge, new devices,\n\nnew products, or processes with preferences given to applications of\n\nnanotechnology leading to commercialization;\n\n3. The project has a reasonable probability to enhance\n\nemployment opportunities within Oklahoma; and\n\n4. The project will enhance services to Oklahoma manufacturers\n\nor Oklahoma companies that are in the process of applying\n\nnanotechnology.\n\nD.
