Stat. tit. 74, § 74-840-2.24","heading":"Participation in specialized disaster relief services","body":"- Leave with pay.\n\nA. 1. As used in this subsection, \"disaster\" means disasters\n\ndesignated at level III and above in the American Red Cross\n\nRegulations and Procedures.\n\n2. Any state employee in the executive branch of state\n\ngovernment who is a certified disaster service volunteer of the\n\nAmerican Red Cross or a member of the United States Air Force\n\nAuxiliary Civil Air Patrol, with the authorization of the chief\n\nexecutive officer of the state agency, may be granted a leave with\n\npay not to exceed fifteen (15) working days in any twelve-month\n\nperiod to participate in specialized disaster relief services within\n\nthe State of Oklahoma for the American Red Cross or the United\n\nStates Air Force Auxiliary Civil Air Patrol, upon the request of the\n\nAmerican Red Cross or the United States Air Force Auxiliary Civil\n\nAir Patrol and with the approval of the office of the Governor of\n\nthis state, without the loss of pay, annual leave, sick leave,\n\naccrued overtime wages or compensatory time. The agency shall\n\ncompensate an employee granted leave time under this section at his\n\nor her regular rate of pay for those regular work hours during which\n\nthe employee is absent from work.\n\n3. Notwithstanding the provision of paragraph 2 of this\n\nsubsection, state employees certified as disaster volunteers shall\n\nnot exceed five hundred (500) participants at any one time. A list\n\nof such employees will be coordinated with the Department of Civil\n\nEmergency Management and the office of the Governor of this state.\n\nWithin sixty (60) days of any request made by the American Red Cross\n\nor the United States Air Force Auxiliary Civil Air Patrol, a report\n\nshall be prepared by the American Red Cross or the United States Air\n\nForce Auxiliary Civil Air Patrol and submitted to the Governor's\n\noffice stating the reasons and needs for any request made.\n\nB. Any state officer or employee in the executive branch of\n\nstate government authorized by the employing agency of the officer\n\nor employee to volunteer in a disaster relief activity during a\n\npresidentially declared national disaster in Oklahoma after May 1,\n\n1999, for a period of not more than six (6) months after the date of\n\nthe presidentially declared national disaster, shall not have to use\n\naccrued leave or need to make up any time due to the performance of\n\ntheir volunteer activities.\n\nC. Private employers are encouraged to allow their employees to\n\ntake leave in order to participate in volunteer disaster service\n\nprograms.\n\nD.
