Stat. tit. 74, § 74-85.45l","heading":"Trip Optimizer system – Purpose and application -","body":"Exceptions.\n\nA. Each state agency, board, commission or other entity\n\norganized within the executive department of state government shall\n\nuse the Trip Optimizer system of the Office of Management and\n\nEnterprise Services in computing the optimum method and cost for\n\ntravel by state employees using a motor vehicle where the travel\n\nwill exceed one hundred (100) miles per day and the employee is not\n\ndriving a state-owned or -leased dedicated vehicle. For purposes of\n\nthis section, \"dedicated vehicle\" means a vehicle that has been\n\nassigned to the employee.\n\nB. The provisions of this section shall be used to determine\n\nthe most cost-effective method of travel by motor vehicles, whether\n\nsuch vehicles are owned by the agency, leased by the agency or by\n\nthe employee, and shall be applicable for purposes of determining\n\nthe maximum authorized amount of any travel reimbursement for\n\nemployees of such agencies related to vehicle usage.\n\nC. A nonappropriated state agency, that employs persons who use\n\npersonal vehicles as part of their regular duties and who are\n\nreimbursed for travel expenses by the agency shall not be required\n\nto utilize the Trip Optimizer system with regard to the travel\n\nexpenses of such employees. As used in this section,\n\n\"nonappropriated state agency\" means an entity within the executive\n\nbranch of government that does not receive any of its funding\n\nthrough the annual legislative appropriations process.\n\nD. The maximum authorized amount of travel reimbursement\n\nrelated to vehicle usage shall be the lowest cost option as\n\ndetermined by the Trip Optimizer system. All travel claims\n\nsubmitted for reimbursement shall include the results of the Trip\n\nOptimizer system indicating the lowest cost option for travel by the\n\nstate employee.\n\nE. State employees may be exempt from the reimbursement\n\nrequirements of the Trip Optimizer system, provided the state\n\nemployees utilize a personally owned vehicle and seek reimbursement\n\naccording to the schedule referenced in subsection F of this\n\nsection.\n\nF. The Office of Management and Enterprise Services shall\n\npublish a schedule of reimbursement rates for state employee travel.\n\nThe schedule may apply to exemptions claimed under subsection E of\n\nthis section. The schedule may categorize reimbursement rates by\n\ntype of vehicle and shall not exceed standard mileage reimbursement\n\nrates as established by the Internal Revenue Service.\n\nG. In providing a calculation of rates, the Trip Optimizer\n\nsystem shall account for the distance that an employee must travel\n\nto pick up a rental or state fleet vehicle.\n\nH.
