Any active member of the Oklahoma Public Employees\n\nRetirement System who served in any branch of the United States\n\nArmed Forces or any component thereof, who was honorably discharged,\n\nand whose initial membership in the System began on or after July 1,\n\n2000, may receive up to five (5) years of military service credit as\n\notherwise provided in Section 901 et seq. of this title, only upon\n\npayment of the actuarial cost of the service credit as determined by\n\nthe Board pursuant to Section 913.5 of this title. Any active\n\nmember of the Oklahoma Public Employees Retirement System who served\n\nin any branch of the United States Armed Forces or any component\n\nthereof, who was honorably discharged, and whose initial membership\n\nin the System began prior to July 1, 2000, and whose military\n\nservice does not qualify as service which can be granted to a member\n\nunder Section 913 of this title, shall be eligible to purchase\n\nservice credit pursuant to this subsection. For purposes of this\n\nsubsection, “military service” means service in the Armed Forces of\n\nthe United States by honorably discharged persons.\n\nB. The combined amount of service granted under subsection B of\n\nSection 913 of this title, and service purchased pursuant to\n\nsubsection A of this section, shall not exceed five (5) years.\n\nC. For a member of the System hired on or after July 1, 2003,\n\nif the military service credit authorized by this section is used to\n\ncompute the retirement benefit of the member and the member retires\n\nfrom the System, such military service credit shall not be used to\n\ncompute the retirement benefit in any other retirement system\n\ncreated pursuant to the Oklahoma Statutes and the member may receive\n\ncredit for such service only in the retirement system from which the\n\nmember first retires.","path":["OK Code","Title 74"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os74.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"f2349fd111e93df5585fd1cf0986aeeb934ecc2bb1eecd3e63a6638440de1f0d","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-74-74-913.7","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-74-74-913.9"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
