Stat. tit. 75, § 75-26.41","heading":"Submission of the question - Procedure","body":"When a question, \"Shall the Legislature of this state ratify a\n\nproposed amendment of the Constitution of the United States,\" is for\n\nlegislative decision, said matter shall be introduced by joint\n\nresolution. In each house the joint resolution submitting said\n\nproposal shall be read in full on three (3) different days but, in\n\neither house, the first reading may be dispensed with by two-thirds\n\n(2/3) vote of the quorum present. Following the second reading the\n\njoint resolution by which the proposed Constitutional amendment is\n\npresented shall be assigned to committee. After favorable committee\n\nreport, the joint resolution by which the proposed amendment of the\n\nUnited States Constitution is presented shall be placed on the\n\ncalendar for third reading and final passage. When the joint\n\nresolution is considered on final passage, the question shall be\n\n\"Shall the proposed amendment of the United States Constitution be\n\nratified?\", which question shall be decided by roll call vote,\n\nopportunity being given first for debate. Unless a majority of the\n\nmembers elected to and constituting the membership of the body\n\nconsidering the question vote in favor of ratifying the amendment of\n\nthe Constitution, the same shall have failed. If a majority of the\n\nmembers elected to and constituting the membership of the body\n\nindicate their approval, the presiding officer shall sign the joint\n\nresolution and direct that it be made available to the other, or\n\nsecond, legislative house.\n\nThe procedure shall be the same in each legislative house except\n\nthat the presiding officer of the second house that has by vote\n\napproved said ratification of the amendment of the United States\n\nConstitution shall sign the joint resolution and attest to the\n\nstate's action, through its Legislature, of ratifying the said\n\nConstitutional amendment.","path":["OK Code","Title 75"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os75.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"76a13f90b2de362e59b1a06c44d4d0e03f79fad4016e9756ce5b2a253cc1adf0","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-75-75-26.2","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-75-75-26.42"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
