Stat. tit. 76, § 76-50.2","heading":"Definitions","body":"As used in the Oklahoma Livestock Activities Liability\n\nLimitation Act:\n\n1. \"Engages in a livestock activity\" includes training, racing,\n\nshowing, riding, or assisting in medical treatment of, or driving\n\nlivestock, or engaging in any agritourism activity involving\n\nlivestock or on a location where livestock are displayed or raised,\n\nand any person assisting a participant, livestock activity sponsor\n\nor livestock professional. The term \"engages in a livestock\n\nactivity\" does not include being a spectator at a livestock\n\nactivity, except in cases where the spectator places himself or\n\nherself in immediate proximity to livestock activity;\n\n2. \"Agritourism activity\" includes, but is not limited to, any\n\nactivity carried out on a farm or ranch that allows members of the\n\ngeneral public, for recreational, entertainment, or educational\n\npurposes, to view or enjoy rural activities, including farming,\n\nranching, historic, cultural, harvest-your-own activities, or\n\nnatural activities and attractions. An activity is an agritourism\n\nactivity whether or not the participant pays to participate in the\n\nactivity;\n\n3. \"Livestock\" means any cattle, bison, hog, sheep, goat,\n\nequine livestock, including but not limited to animals of the\n\nfamilies bovidae, cervidae and antilocapridae or birds of the ratite\n\ngroup;\n\n4. \"Livestock activity\" includes but is not limited to:\n\na. livestock shows, fairs, livestock sales, competitions,\n\nperformances, or parades that involve any or all\n\nbreeds of livestock and any of the livestock\n\ndisciplines, including, but not limited to, rodeos,\n\nauctions, driving, pulling, judging, cutting and\n\nshowing,\n\nb. livestock training or teaching activities or both such\n\ntraining and teaching activities,\n\nc. boarding or pasturing livestock,\n\nd. inspecting or evaluating livestock belonging to\n\nanother, whether or not the owner has received some\n\nmonetary consideration or other thing of value for the\n\nuse of the livestock or is permitting a prospective\n\npurchaser of the livestock to inspect or evaluate the\n\nlivestock,\n\ne. drives, rides, trips, hunts or other livestock\n\nactivities of any type however informal or impromptu\n\nthat are sponsored by a livestock activity sponsor,\n\nf. placing or replacing horseshoes on an equine, or\n\notherwise preparing livestock for show, and\n\ng. agritourism activities involving the viewing of,\n\nhandling of, riding of, showing of, or other\n\ninteractive activities with livestock;\n\n5. \"Livestock activity sponsor\" means an individual, group,\n\nclub, partnership or corporation, whether or not the sponsor is\n\noperating for profit or nonprofit, which sponsors, organizes, or\n\nprovides the facilities for, a livestock activity, including but not\n\nlimited to: livestock clubs, 4-H clubs, FFA chapters, school and\n\ncollege-sponsored classes, programs and activities, therapeutic\n\nriding programs, and operators, instructors, and promoters of\n\nlivestock facilities, including, but not limited to, barns, stables,\n\nclubhouses, ponyride strings, fairs and arenas at which the activity\n\nis held;\n\n6. \"Livestock professional\" means a person engaged for\n\ncompensation in:\n\na. instructing a participant or renting to a participant\n\nlivestock for the purpose of engaging in livestock\n\nactivity, or\n\nb. renting equipment or tack to a participant;\n\n7. \"Inherent risks of livestock activities\" means those dangers\n\nor conditions which are an integral part of livestock activities,\n\nincluding but not limited to:\n\na. the propensity of livestock to behave in ways that may\n\nresult in injury to persons on or around them,\n\nb. the unpredictability of livestock's reaction to such\n\nthings as sounds, sudden movement and unfamiliar\n\nobjects, persons or other animals,\n\nc. certain hazards such as surface and subsurface\n\nconditions unknown to the livestock activity sponsor,\n\nd. collisions with other livestock or objects, and\npropensity of livestock to behave in ways that may\n\nresult in injury to persons on or around them,\n\nb. the unpredictability of livestock's reaction to such\n\nthings as sounds, sudden movement and unfamiliar\n\nobjects, persons or other animals,\n\nc. certain hazards such as surface and subsurface\n\nconditions unknown to the livestock activity sponsor,\n\nd. collisions with other livestock or objects, and\n\ne. the potential of tack to become dislodged or move in\n\nways that may result in injury to persons on or around\n\nlivestock activities; and\n\n8. \"Participant\" means any person, whether amateur or\n\nprofessional, who engages in a livestock activity, whether or not a\n\nfee is paid to participate in the livestock activity.","path":["OK Code","Title 76"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os76.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"cf70464ca89ea763ee67d185f6d3845c31fbc69e869aeaebd5c90791d3409f48","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-76-76-50.1","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-76-76-50.3"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
