The Surplus Property Agent shall, under the supervision and\n\ndirection of the Director of the Office of Management and Enterprise\n\nServices:\n\n1. Ascertain from the federal government through any of its\n\nagencies, any surplus property available for sale, lease, or\n\ndonation either within or outside this state and shall notify the\n\nstate departments, boards, commissions, institutions, and agencies,\n\ncounties, cities, and towns, and school districts of the\n\navailability of such property as is deemed necessary according to\n\nthe types and quantities of property available;\n\n2. Secure from state departments, boards, commissions,\n\ninstitutions, and agencies and from counties, cities, and towns, and\n\nschool districts, estimates of their needs for surplus property and\n\nkeep federal agencies informed of such needs;\n\n3. Purchase, or accept as gifts or donations, any surplus\n\nproperty from the federal government, its departments or agencies\n\nfor redistribution, by sale or donation to any state department,\n\nboard, commission, institution, or agency and to counties, cities,\n\nor towns, and school districts, and provide for the care and\n\nhandling, transportation, and warehousing of property if necessary;\n\n4. Distribute surplus property to state departments, boards,\n\ncommissions, institutions, and agencies and to counties, cities,\n\ntowns, school districts, and other entities authorized by the\n\nfederal government to receive federal surplus property, provided,\n\nthe entity reimburses the Surplus Property Agent for the purchase\n\nprice and expenses incurred in connection with acquiring,\n\nwarehousing, and distributing the surplus property;\n\n5. With the approval of the Director of the Office of\n\nManagement and Enterprise Services, employ such employees and\n\nassistants as may be necessary to carry out the purposes of Sections\n\n34.1 through 34.6 of this title;\n\n6. Make acquisition of surplus automobiles in a manner\n\nconsistent with other applicable sections of law in this state; and\n\n7. Perform other duties as are necessary for the purposes of\n\nSections 34.1 through 34.6 of this title.\n\nB.
