Stat. tit. 82, § 82-1020.1","heading":"Definitions","body":"As used in Section 1020.1 et seq. of this title:\n\n1. \"Groundwater\" means fresh water and marginal water under the\n\nsurface of the earth regardless of the geologic structure in which\n\nit is standing or moving outside the cut bank of any definite\n\nstream;\n\n2. \"Domestic use\" means the use of water by a natural\n\nindividual or by a family or household for household purposes, for\n\nfarm and domestic animals up to the normal grazing capacity of the\n\nland and for the irrigation of land not exceeding a total of three\n\n(3) acres in area for the growing of gardens, orchards and lawns,\n\nand for such other purposes, specified by Board rules, for which de\n\nminimis amounts are used;\n\n3. \"Major groundwater basin\" shall mean a distinct underground\n\nbody of water overlain by contiguous land and having substantially\n\nthe same geological and hydrological characteristics and from which\n\ngroundwater wells yield at least fifty (50) gallons per minute on\n\nthe average basinwide if from a bedrock aquifer and at least one\n\nhundred fifty (150) gallons per minute on the average basinwide if\n\nfrom an alluvium or alluvium and terrace aquifer, or as otherwise\n\ndesignated by the Board;\n\n4. \"Subbasin\" means a subdivision of a major or minor\n\ngroundwater basin overlain by contiguous land and having\n\nsubstantially the same geological and hydrological characteristics\n\nand yield capabilities;\n\n5. \"Board\" means the Oklahoma Water Resources Board;\n\n6. \"Person\" means any individual, firm, partnership,\n\nassociation, corporation, business trust, federal agency, state\n\nagency, the state or any political subdivision thereof,\n\nmunicipalities, and any other legal entities;\n\n7. \"Fresh water\" means water which has less than five thousand\n\n(5,000) parts per million total dissolved solids. For the purpose\n\nof Section 1020.1 et seq. of this title all other water is salt\n\nwater;\n\n8. \"Commercial drilling\", \"commercial plugging\" and \"commercial\n\ninstallation\" mean drilling or plugging and installation as a\n\nbusiness, trade or occupation for compensation;\n\n9. \"Minor groundwater basin\" means a distinct underground body\n\nof water overlain by contiguous land and having substantially the\n\nsame geological and hydrological characteristics and which is not a\n\nmajor groundwater basin; and\n\n10. \"Marginal water\" means water which has at least five\n\nthousand (5,000) and less than ten thousand (10,000) parts per\n\nmillion total dissolved solids.","path":["OK Code","Title 82"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os82.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"9e34b29dee741aa9caafa6c95f92f385d2a419871a0cb9060d38b92146fa2e3c","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-80-80-8","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-82-82-1020.10"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
