Stat. tit. 82, § 82-105.1A","heading":"Purpose of law - Legislative intent","body":"\n\nIt is the intent of the Oklahoma Legislature that the purpose of\n\nSection 105.1 through Section 105.32 of this title is to provide for\n\nstability and certainty in water rights by replacing the\n\nincompatible dual systems of riparian and appropriative water rights\n\nwhich governed the use of water from definite streams in Oklahoma\n\nprior to June 10, 1963, with an appropriation system of regulation\n\nrequiring the beneficial use of water and providing that priority in\n\ntime shall give the better right. These sections are intended to\n\nprovide that riparian landowners may use water for domestic uses and\n\nstore water in definite streams and that appropriations shall not\n\ninterfere with such domestic uses, to recognize through\n\nadministrative adjudications all uses, riparian and appropriative,\n\nexisting prior to June 10, 1963, and to extinguish future claims to\n\nuse water, except for domestic use, based only on ownership of\n\nriparian lands.","path":["OK Code","Title 82"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os82.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"dbf236d90d01b48a49d26b09b22e6a4d120458e4f149738e8bac593f0444b40e","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-82-82-105.19","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-82-82-105.2"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
