Stat. tit. 82, § 82-1604","heading":"County and municipal floodplain boards – Floodplain","body":"management.\n\nA. 1. The boards of county commissioners and municipal\n\ngoverning bodies are authorized to establish floodplain boards,\n\ncomposed of membership as specified in Section 1605 of this title,\n\nfor their respective area of jurisdiction.\n\n2. If a board of county commissioners or municipal governing\n\nbody dissolves its respective floodplain board that had been\n\nestablished prior to the effective date of this act, the floodplain\n\nmanagement regulations adopted by such floodplain board shall\n\ncontinue in effect to be administered by the board of county\n\ncommissioners or municipal governing body that assumes the role of\n\nthe local floodplain board.\n\n3. To participate in the program, floodplain boards shall\n\nadopt, administer and enforce floodplain management rules and\n\nregulations, for the purpose of:\n\na. delineation of floodplains and floodways,\n\nb. preservation of the capacity of the floodplain to\n\ncarry and discharge regional floods,\n\nc. minimization of flood hazards,\n\nd. establishment and charging of reasonable fees, not to\n\nexceed Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00), for services\n\nprovided by the Board, county commissioners and\n\nmunicipalities in the administration of their\n\nresponsibilities pursuant to the Oklahoma Floodplain\n\nManagement Act,\n\ne. regulation of the use of land in the floodplain,\n\nf. protection of the natural and beneficial functions of\n\nthe floodplain, reducing damage to property from\n\nfloods, reducing injury and loss of life from floods,\n\nand allowing communities to be eligible for flood\n\ninsurance, and\n\ng. hiring and employment of an accredited floodplain\n\nadministrator.\n\nB. The floodplain management regulations shall be based on\n\nadequate technical data and competent engineering advice and shall\n\nbe consistent with local and regional comprehensive planning.\n\nC. The floodplain management regulations adopted by each\n\nfloodplain board shall be approved by the county or the\n\nmunicipality, as the case may be, by appropriate resolution or\n\nordinance.\n\nD. The Oklahoma Water Resources Board shall promulgate rules\n\nfor the purposes specified in paragraph 3 of subsection A of this\n\nsection.\n\nE.
