Stat. tit. 82, § 82-521","heading":"County commissioners - Duties concerning conservation -","body":"Cooperation with State Board.\n\nThe board of county commissioners of the various counties of the\n\nState of Oklahoma are hereby authorized to cooperate with the\n\nConservation Commission of the State of Oklahoma in all instances\n\nwhere such cooperation is necessary and will expedite the provisions\n\nof this act or any other act to which this act is cumulative, and\n\nsuch boards are further empowered and authorized to devise methods\n\nand means to stop and/or prevent soil erosion or soil drifting in\n\ntheir respective counties. In any county or any part thereof of the\n\nstate where the Conservation Commission of the State of Oklahoma has\n\nnot exercised its powers for the prevention and control of soil\n\nerosion, the board of county commissioners may order the land\n\nsubject to soil erosion and drifting to be cultivated, plowed,\n\nlisted or planted, or may in any other manner take such steps as are\n\nnecessary to prevent such soil erosion and drifting. Upon any such\n\norder being made by the board of county commissioners, all owners of\n\nland within the district designated by the board of county\n\ncommissioners shall forthwith take such steps as are designated by\n\nsaid board and in case any land owner shall fail or refuse to comply\n\ntherewith, the board of county commissioners is hereby authorized to\n\nemploy agents to go upon the land of any such person who shall fail\n\nor refuse to comply with such orders, for the purpose of plowing,\n\nditching, listing or planting the same to prevent soil erosion and\n\ndrifting, and said board of county commissioners is hereby expressly\n\nauthorized to assess reasonable charges for such services against\n\nsuch lands affected thereby, which charges and assessments shall be\n\nlevied and collected as other taxes on real estate; provided, that\n\nno order for the plowing, ditching, listing or planting of any lands\n\nin any given area shall be ordered by any board of county\n\ncommissioners unless and until sixty percent (60%) of the land\n\nowners of such area have filed with such board of county\n\ncommissioners written requests for such action.","path":["OK Code","Title 82"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os82.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"089e434be906bef5dbf9f7a441a58369823380ff56b8b8fb787cb94a4260c91c","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-82-82-510","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-82-82-526.1"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
