Stat. tit. 82, § 82-601","heading":"Appraisers - Appointment - Organization - Additional","body":"board.\n\nAt the time of making its order, organizing the district or at\n\nany suitable time thereafter; either in term or in vacation the\n\ncourt or judge shall appoint three (3) appraisers, who shall in\n\nevery case where appraisers are appointed under this act be\n\nrecommended by the board of directors, and whose duty it shall be to\n\nappraise the lands or other property within and without the district\n\nto be acquired for rights-of-way, reservoirs and other works of the\n\ndistrict and to appraise all benefits and damages accruing to all\n\nlands within and without the district by reason of the extension of\n\nthe official plan. Said appraisers shall be freeholders residing\n\nwithin the counties affected by the district but not interested in\n\nsaid district. Each of the appraisers shall, before taking up his\n\nduties, take and subscribe to an oath that he will faithfully and\n\nimpartially discharge his duties as such appraiser, and that he will\n\nmake a true report of such work done by him. The said appraisers\n\nshall at their first meeting elect one of their own number chairman,\n\nand the secretary of the board of directors or his deputy shall be\n\nexofficio secretary of said board of appraisers during their\n\ncontinuance in office. A majority of the appraisers shall\n\nconstitute a quorum and a concurrence of the majority in any matter\n\nwithin their duties shall be sufficient for its determination. Said\n\nappraisers shall continue to hold their offices until excused by the\n\ncourt, and the court shall fill all vacancies in the board of\n\nappraisers, or may appoint a new board for subsequent appraisals, as\n\noccasion may require.
