Stat. tit. 84, § 84-215","heading":"Inheritance by and from illegitimate child","body":"For inheritance purposes, a child born out of wedlock stands in\n\nthe same relation to his mother and her kindred, and she and her\n\nkindred to the child, as if that child had been born in wedlock. For\n\nlike purposes, every such child stands in identical relation to his\n\nfather and his kindred, and the latter and his kindred to the child,\n\nwhenever: (a) the father, in writing, signed in the presence of a\n\ncompetent witness acknowledges himself to be the father of the\n\nchild, (b) the father and mother intermarried subsequent to the\n\nchild's birth, and the father, after such marriage, acknowledged the\n\nchild as his own or adopted him into his family, (c) the father\n\npublicly acknowledged such child as his own, receiving it as such,\n\nwith the consent of his wife, if he is married, into his family and\n\notherwise treating it as if it were a child born in wedlock, or (d)\n\nthe father was judicially determined to be such in a paternity\n\nproceeding before a court of competent jurisdiction.\n\nFor all purposes, the issue of all marriages null in law, or\n\ndissolved by divorce, are deemed to have been born in wedlock.","path":["OK Code","Title 84"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os84.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"1b4a6dd7d3632d6d8b4a2b9a072361110e8b4d3e7634848fa2e5628d5b5e7936","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-84-84-214","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-84-84-216"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
