The Self-insurance Guaranty Fund Board shall be a party in\n\ninterest in all proceedings involving compensation claims against an\n\nimpaired self-insurer whose compensation claims have been paid or\n\nassumed by the Commission and shall have all rights of subrogation\n\nof the impaired self-insurer. In such proceedings, the Board may\n\nassume and exercise all rights and defenses of the impaired self-\n\ninsurer, including, but not limited to, the right to:\n\n1. Appear, defend and appeal claims;\n\n2. Receive notice of, investigate, adjust, compromise, settle\n\nand pay claims; and\n\n3. Investigate, handle and contest claims.\n\nB. The Board may:\n\n1. Retain such persons as are necessary to handle claims and\n\nperform other duties of the Board;\n\n2. Sue or be sued;\n\n3. Negotiate and become a party to such contracts as are\n\nnecessary to carry out the purposes of the Administrative Workers'\n\nCompensation Act; and\n\n4.
