The Official Disability Guidelines - Treatment in Workers\n\nCompensation (ODG), published by the Work Loss Data Institute, is to\n\nbe recognized as the primary standard of reference, at the time of\n\ntreatment, in determining the frequency and extent of services\n\npresumed to be medically necessary and appropriate for compensable\n\ninjuries under this act, or in resolving such matters in the event a\n\ndispute arises. The medical treatment guidelines are not\n\nrequirements, nor are they mandates or standards; they provide\n\nadvice by identifying the care most likely to benefit injured\n\nworkers. The guidelines shall be evidence-based, scientifically\n\nvalid, outcome-focused, and designed to reduce excessive or\n\ninappropriate medical care while safeguarding necessary medical\n\ncare.\n\nB. Physicians providing care to an employee shall prescribe for\n\nthe employee any necessary prescription drugs and over-the-counter\n\nalternatives to prescription medicine as clinically appropriate and\n\nas recommended under the Official Disability Guidelines.\n\nPrescriptions and nonprescription drugs that are not preferred,\n\nexceed or are not addressed by ODG require preauthorization and the\n\npreauthorization request shall include the prescribing doctor's drug\n\nregimen plan of care and the anticipated dosage or range of dosages.","path":["OK Code","Title 85A"],"source_url":"https://www.oklegislature.gov/OK_Statutes/CompleteTitles/os85A.pdf","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:36Z","sha256":"3e58a542a7aad22bfad7c6860362593d4f56f04694dc6f962222d384000f032f","source_id":"us-ok","stale":false,"prev":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-85a-85a-14","next":"us-ok/okla.-stat.-tit.-85a-85a-17"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
