{"data":{"id":"us-pa/11-pa.c.s.-11033","jurisdiction":"us-pa","citation":"11 Pa.C.S. § 11033","heading":"Number of signatures, examination and certificate by city clerk.","body":"(a) Signatures.--Within 10 days after the period of time for signing the petition has elapsed, the city clerk shall:\n(1) Examine the petition.\n(2) Ascertain whether or not the petition is signed by electors of the city, equal in number to at least 20% of the entire votes cast by registered electors for all candidates for mayor at the last preceding municipal election at which a mayor was elected.\n(b) Employees.--If necessary, council may allow the city clerk additional help for the purpose of complying with this section.\n(c) Results.--The city clerk shall attach to the petition the clerk's certificate showing the result of the examination.\n(d) Failure.--If less than the required 20% under subsection (a)(2) is certified, the petition shall fail and shall be filed in the office of the city clerk.","path":["Title 11 - CITIES","PART V THIRD CLASS CITIES","CHAPTER 110 COUNCIL","SUBCHAPTER B INITIATING ORDINANCES BY ELECTORS"],"source_url":"https://www.palegis.us/statutes/consolidated/view-statute?txtType=HTM\u0026ttl=11\u0026div=0\u0026chpt=110\u0026sctn=33\u0026subsctn=0","current_through":"2025-03-10 (Statute Update stamp, 11 Pa.C.S.)","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-02T16:30:53Z","sha256":"9bc3cd6df2f449acb850d7e83cf07c5753d8c666ca290416d8320efedc3ab73d","source_id":"us-pa","stale":false,"prev":"us-pa/11-pa.c.s.-11032","next":"us-pa/11-pa.c.s.-11034"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
