{"data":{"id":"us-pa/13-pa.c.s.-9108","jurisdiction":"us-pa","citation":"13 Pa.C.S. § 9108","heading":"Sufficiency of description.","body":"(a) Sufficiency of description.--Except as otherwise provided in subsections (c), (d) and (e), a description of personal or real property is sufficient, whether or not it is specific, if it reasonably identifies what is described.\n(b) Examples of reasonable identification.--Except as otherwise provided in subsection (d), a description of collateral reasonably identifies the collateral if it identifies the collateral by:\n(1) specific listing;\n(2) category;\n(3) except as otherwise provided in subsection (e), a type of collateral defined in this title;\n(4) quantity;\n(5) computational or allocational formula or procedure; or\n(6) except as otherwise provided in subsection (c), any other method, if the identity of the collateral is objectively determinable.\n(c) Supergeneric description not sufficient.--A description of collateral as \"all the debtor's assets\" or \"all the debtor's personal property\" or using words of similar import does not reasonably identify the collateral.\n(d) Investment property.--Except as otherwise provided in subsection (e), a description of a security entitlement, securities account or commodity account is sufficient if it describes:\n(1) the collateral by those terms or as investment property; or\n(2) the underlying financial asset or commodity contract.\n(e) When description by type insufficient.--A description only by type of collateral defined in this title is an insufficient description of:\n(1) a commercial tort claim; or\n(2) in a consumer transaction, consumer goods, a security entitlement, a securities account or a commodity account.","path":["Title 13 - COMMERCIAL CODE","CHAPTER 91 GENERAL PROVISIONS","SUBCHAPTER A SHORT TITLE, DEFINITIONS AND GENERAL CONCEPTS"],"source_url":"https://www.palegis.us/statutes/consolidated/view-statute?txtType=HTM\u0026ttl=13\u0026div=0\u0026chpt=91\u0026sctn=8\u0026subsctn=0","current_through":"2025-12-01 (Statute Update stamp, 13 Pa.C.S.)","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-02T16:31:03Z","sha256":"3a12e81c7e5732e3b8d9f193afee6dd7a168e21d1ea5dbcded0538bfe2213c96","source_id":"us-pa","stale":false,"prev":"us-pa/13-pa.c.s.-9107.1","next":"us-pa/13-pa.c.s.-9109"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
