{"data":{"id":"us-pa/42-pa.c.s.-7375","jurisdiction":"us-pa","citation":"42 Pa.C.S. § 7375","heading":"Arbitration agreement.","body":"(a) Requirements.--An arbitration agreement must:\n(1) be in a record signed by the parties;\n(2) identify the arbitrator, an arbitration organization or a method of selecting an arbitrator; and\n(3) identify the family law dispute the parties intend to arbitrate.\n(b) Effect.--Except as set forth in subsection (c), an agreement in a record to arbitrate a family law dispute which arises between the parties is:\n(1) valid and enforceable as any other contract; and\n(2) irrevocable, except on a ground that exists at law or in equity for the revocation of a contract.\n(c) Unenforceable agreements.--An agreement to arbitrate a child custody dispute or child support dispute, which arises between the parties after the agreement is made is unenforceable unless:\n(1) the parties affirm the agreement in a record after the child custody dispute or child support dispute arises; or\n(2) the agreement was entered during a family law proceeding, and the court approved or incorporated the agreement in an order issued in the proceeding.\n(d) Objection to arbitration.--If a party objects to arbitration on the grounds that the arbitration agreement is unenforceable or that the agreement does not include a family law dispute, the court shall decide whether the agreement is enforceable or includes the family law dispute.","path":["Title 42 - JUDICIARY AND JUDICIAL PROCEDURE","PART VII CIVIL ACTIONS AND PROCEEDINGS","CHAPTER 73 ARBITRATION","SUBCHAPTER D UNIFORM FAMILY LAW ARBITRATION"],"source_url":"https://www.palegis.us/statutes/consolidated/view-statute?txtType=HTM\u0026ttl=42\u0026div=0\u0026chpt=73\u0026sctn=75\u0026subsctn=0","current_through":"2026-08-03 (Statute Update stamp, 42 Pa.C.S.)","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-02T16:33:14Z","sha256":"98c997df9446ea63166c5637e03aa62839bf9dc26bab384b1723a405906c68d0","source_id":"us-pa","stale":false,"prev":"us-pa/42-pa.c.s.-7374","next":"us-pa/42-pa.c.s.-7376"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
