{"data":{"id":"us-pa/51-pa.c.s.-9604","jurisdiction":"us-pa","citation":"51 Pa.C.S. § 9604","heading":"Duties of Department of General Services.","body":"The Department of General Services, with the assistance of the department, shall have the following duties:\n(1) If feasible, provide appropriate staff, who shall be responsible to the Department of General Services and who shall serve within designated Commonwealth agencies to assist veteran-owned small businesses and service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses in this Commonwealth in learning how to do business with Commonwealth agencies.\n(2) Give special publicity to procurement procedures and issue special publications designed to assist veteran-owned small businesses and service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses in learning how to do business with Commonwealth agencies.\n(3) Compile, maintain and make available source lists of veteran-owned small businesses and service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses for the purpose of encouraging procurement from veteran-owned small businesses.\n(4) Include veteran-owned small businesses and service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses on solicitation mailing lists.\n(5) Assure that veteran-owned small businesses and service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses are solicited on procurements for which the businesses may be suited.\n(6) Develop special training programs to assist veteran-owned small businesses and service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses in learning how to do business with Commonwealth agencies.\n(7) Assure that participation by veteran-owned small businesses and service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses is, if appropriate, factored into the evaluation of proposals for supplies, services or construction when a purchasing agency uses the competitive sealed proposals method under 62 Pa.C.S. § 513 (relating to competitive sealed proposals).\n(8) Verify the current certification of businesses claiming to be certified as veteran-owned small businesses and service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses.","path":["Title 51 - MILITARY AFFAIRS","PART VI MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS","CHAPTER 96 VETERAN-OWNED SMALL BUSINESSES","SUBCHAPTER B PARTICIPATION"],"source_url":"https://www.palegis.us/statutes/consolidated/view-statute?txtType=HTM\u0026ttl=51\u0026div=0\u0026chpt=96\u0026sctn=4\u0026subsctn=0","current_through":"2026-08-31 (Statute Update stamp, 51 Pa.C.S.)","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-02T16:33:58Z","sha256":"9f5ca535bf4a7d95b578ffe0a44f329a70ce9a52dce54b0a055bd9ed608b7a7c","source_id":"us-pa","stale":false,"prev":"us-pa/51-pa.c.s.-9603","next":"us-pa/51-pa.c.s.-9605"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
