{"data":{"id":"us-pa/66-pa.c.s.-512.1","jurisdiction":"us-pa","citation":"66 Pa.C.S. § 512.1","heading":"Power of commission to confiscate, impound and sell vehicles.","body":"(a) Authorization.--The commission is empowered to confiscate a vehicle and impound and sell a vehicle if the vehicle is used to provide a prearranged ride following disqualification under section 2609(b) (relating to fines and penalties) or suspension or revocation of a transportation network company's license under this title.\n(b) Return of vehicle.--The vehicle may be returned to the registered owner upon payment of the costs of the commission associated with confiscation and impoundment. Failure of a transportation network company, driver of a confiscated vehicle or registered owner to pay these costs may result in forfeiture and sale of the vehicle.\n(c) Commission duties.--The commission shall establish the following by regulation or order:\n(1) grounds for confiscation, impoundment or sale;\n(2) procedures for satisfaction of outstanding fines, penalties and costs and notice and hearing; and\n(3) if the fines, penalties and costs are not timely paid, the timing of the sale and the allocation of proceeds from the sale of impounded vehicles.\n(d) Disposition of sale proceeds.--The proceeds of the sale of a vehicle by the commission under this section shall first be used to satisfy any liens on the vehicle or, if the vehicle is subject to a lease, to pay the lessor damages due to the lessor upon default by the lessee as provided by 13 Pa.C.S. § 2A527 (relating to lessor's rights to dispose of goods) prior to paying any fines, penalties and costs.","path":["Title 66 - PUBLIC UTILITIES","PART I PUBLIC UTILITY CODE","SUBPART B COMMISSION POWERS, DUTIES, PRACTICES AND PROCEDURES","CHAPTER 5 POWERS AND DUTIES"],"source_url":"https://www.palegis.us/statutes/consolidated/view-statute?txtType=HTM\u0026ttl=66\u0026div=0\u0026chpt=5\u0026sctn=12\u0026subsctn=1","current_through":"2025-01-07 (Statute Update stamp, 66 Pa.C.S.)","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-02T16:35:03Z","sha256":"76dc288fa8ef3d46839b1dd7a81a4252917cf0af4c2a7572a065dc9b8961c011","source_id":"us-pa","stale":false,"prev":"us-pa/66-pa.c.s.-512","next":"us-pa/66-pa.c.s.-513"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
