{"data":{"id":"us-pa/75-pa.c.s.-1366.2","jurisdiction":"us-pa","citation":"75 Pa.C.S. § 1366.2","heading":"Blue Star Family plate.","body":"(a) General rule.--Upon application of a family member of a person who is an active duty service member in the military, including a reserve component or National Guard, accompanied by a fee of $23 which shall be in addition to the registration fee and by such documentation as the department shall require, the department shall issue to the family member a special registration plate designating the vehicle so licensed as belonging to a family member of a person serving on active duty in the military, including a reserve component or National Guard. The department shall design and produce the special registration plate carrying the Blue Star which signifies that a family member is an active duty service member, including a reserve component or National Guard. The words \"Blue Star Family\" shall be clearly displayed along the bottom of the plate. The special registration plate may be used only on a passenger car or truck with a registered gross weight of not more than 14,000 pounds.\n(b) Documentation required.--An applicant for a Blue Star Family plate shall certify on a form approved by the department that the applicant is a family member of a person who is an active duty service member in the military, including a reserve component or National Guard.\n(c) Construction.--Nothing in this section shall be construed to require:\n(1) A person issued a Blue Star Family plate to return the plate to the department if a family member no longer serves on active duty in the military, including a reserve component or National Guard.\n(2) The department to periodically verify that a person issued a Blue Star Family plate has a family member serving on active duty in the military, including a reserve component or National Guard, after the initial issuance of the plate.\n(d) Definition.--As used in this section, the term \"family member\" includes the following:\n(1) Mother.\n(2) Father.\n(3) Stepmother.\n(4) Stepfather.\n(5) Mother through adoption.\n(6) Father through adoption.\n(7) Foster mother in loco parentis.\n(8) Foster father in loco parentis.\n(9) Son.\n(10) Daughter.\n(11) Stepson.\n(12) Stepdaughter.\n(13) Son by adoption.\n(14) Daughter by adoption.\n(15) Brother.\n(16) Sister.\n(17) Half-brother.\n(18) Half-sister.\n(19) Grandfather.\n(20) Grandmother.\n(21) Spouse.","path":["Title 75 - VEHICLES","PART II TITLE, REGISTRATION AND LICENSING","CHAPTER 13 REGISTRATION OF VEHICLES","SUBCHAPTER B REGISTRATION PLATES"],"source_url":"https://www.palegis.us/statutes/consolidated/view-statute?txtType=HTM\u0026ttl=75\u0026div=0\u0026chpt=13\u0026sctn=66\u0026subsctn=2","current_through":"2026-08-31 (Statute Update stamp, 75 Pa.C.S.)","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-02T16:35:49Z","sha256":"84a90fe8e19e61ac1b111569e81e3b95156eb472ab32355a9747de7a1581fcfc","source_id":"us-pa","stale":false,"prev":"us-pa/75-pa.c.s.-1366.1","next":"us-pa/75-pa.c.s.-1366.3"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
