{"data":{"id":"us-pa/75-pa.c.s.-3712","jurisdiction":"us-pa","citation":"75 Pa.C.S. § 3712","heading":"Abandonment of vehicles.","body":"(a) Abandonment on highway.--No person shall abandon a vehicle upon any highway.\n(b) Abandonment on public or private property.--No person shall abandon a vehicle upon any public or private property without the express or implied consent of the owner or person in lawful possession or control of the property.\n(c) Stripping abandoned vehicle.--(Deleted by amendment).\n(d) Penalties.--\n(1) Any person violating subsection (a) or (b):\n(i) For a first offense, commits a summary offense and shall, upon conviction, be sentenced to pay a fine of $500 plus all costs of disposing of the vehicle under the provisions of Chapter 73 (relating to abandoned vehicles and cargos).\n(ii) For a second offense, commits a summary offense and shall, upon conviction, be sentenced to pay a fine of $1,000 plus all costs of disposing of the vehicle under the provisions of Chapter 73.\n(iii) For a third or subsequent offense, commits a misdemeanor of the third degree and shall, upon conviction, be sentenced to pay all costs of disposing of the vehicle under the provisions of Chapter 73.\n(2) In a case involving a violation of this section, the municipality in which the vehicle is located may file the complaint with the appropriate issuing authority.","path":["Title 75 - VEHICLES","PART III OPERATION OF VEHICLES","CHAPTER 37 MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS","SUBCHAPTER A OFFENSES IN GENERAL"],"source_url":"https://www.palegis.us/statutes/consolidated/view-statute?txtType=HTM\u0026ttl=75\u0026div=0\u0026chpt=37\u0026sctn=12\u0026subsctn=0","current_through":"2026-08-31 (Statute Update stamp, 75 Pa.C.S.)","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-02T16:35:49Z","sha256":"3a756ae6e24e04739b8301ccb54290a01dd0972f305daaa91b7acd89eeaad018","source_id":"us-pa","stale":false,"prev":"us-pa/75-pa.c.s.-3711","next":"us-pa/75-pa.c.s.-3712.1"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
