{"data":{"id":"us-pa/75-pa.c.s.-4527","jurisdiction":"us-pa","citation":"75 Pa.C.S. § 4527","heading":"Image display device.","body":"(a) General rule.--No motor vehicle shall be operated on a highway with an image display device where a broadcast television image, a live stream video image from the Internet, satellite or any other source or a prerecorded video image is visible to the driver while the vehicle is in motion.\n(b) Exception.--This section shall not apply to the following:\n(1) Television-type receiving equipment in a vehicle used exclusively for safety or law enforcement purposes as approved by the Pennsylvania State Police.\n(2) Image display devices used in conjunction with any of the following:\n(i) A vehicle information display.\n(ii) A global positioning device.\n(iii) A mapping display.\n(iv) A visual display used to enhance or supplement the driver's view forward, behind or to the sides of a motor vehicle for the purpose of maneuvering the vehicle.\n(v) A visual display used to enhance or supplement a driver's view of vehicle occupants.\n(vi) A visual display used exclusively for safety or traffic engineering information.\n(vii) A television receiver, video monitor, television or video screen or any other similar means of visually displaying a television broadcast or video signal, if that equipment has an interlock device that, when the motor vehicle is driven, disables the equipment from displaying a broadcast television image, live stream video image from the Internet, satellite or any other source or a prerecorded video image.","path":["Title 75 - VEHICLES","PART IV VEHICLE CHARACTERISTICS","CHAPTER 45 OTHER REQUIRED EQUIPMENT","SUBCHAPTER B SAFETY AND ANTI-POLLUTION EQUIPMENT"],"source_url":"https://www.palegis.us/statutes/consolidated/view-statute?txtType=HTM\u0026ttl=75\u0026div=0\u0026chpt=45\u0026sctn=27\u0026subsctn=0","current_through":"2026-08-31 (Statute Update stamp, 75 Pa.C.S.)","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-02T16:35:49Z","sha256":"9a9b1a4e6b166532188e80ed272b2f6c32587b5abdca967a8ada9315ebadaff6","source_id":"us-pa","stale":false,"prev":"us-pa/75-pa.c.s.-4526","next":"us-pa/75-pa.c.s.-4528"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
