{"data":{"id":"us-pa/75-pa.c.s.-7721","jurisdiction":"us-pa","citation":"75 Pa.C.S. § 7721","heading":"Operation on streets and highways.","body":"(a) General rule.--Except as otherwise provided in this chapter, it is unlawful to operate a snowmobile or an ATV on any street or highway which is not designated and posted as a snowmobile or an ATV road by the governmental agency having jurisdiction.\n(b) Emergency and bridge crossings.--A snowmobile or an ATV may be operated on highways and streets:\n(1) During periods of emergency when so declared by a policy agency having jurisdiction.\n(2) When necessary to cross a bridge or culvert.\n(c) Crossing street or highway.--A snowmobile or an ATV may make a direct crossing of a street or highway upon compliance with the following requirements:\n(1) The crossing is made at an angle of approximately 90 degrees to the direction of the highway and at a place where no obstruction prevents a quick and safe crossing.\n(2) The snowmobile or ATV is brought to a complete stop before crossing the shoulder or main-traveled way of the highway.\n(3) The driver yields the right-of-way to all oncoming traffic which constitutes an immediate hazard.\n(4) In crossing a divided highway, the crossing is made only at an intersection of such highway with another public street or highway.","path":["Title 75 - VEHICLES","PART VI MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS","CHAPTER 77 SNOWMOBILES AND ALL-TERRAIN VEHICLES","SUBCHAPTER C OPERATION"],"source_url":"https://www.palegis.us/statutes/consolidated/view-statute?txtType=HTM\u0026ttl=75\u0026div=0\u0026chpt=77\u0026sctn=21\u0026subsctn=0","current_through":"2026-08-31 (Statute Update stamp, 75 Pa.C.S.)","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-02T16:35:49Z","sha256":"a6a2b1ef326ddbdea226e2adae4c764b8823ff3c6c6066c1cfb81876542c470f","source_id":"us-pa","stale":false,"prev":"us-pa/75-pa.c.s.-7718","next":"us-pa/75-pa.c.s.-7722"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
