{"data":{"id":"us-pa/8-pa.c.s.-10a04","jurisdiction":"us-pa","citation":"8 Pa.C.S. § 10A04","heading":"Salary of mayor.","body":"(a) General rule.--The salary of the mayor shall be established by ordinance and shall not exceed the following:\n(1) In a borough with a population of less than 5,000, a maximum of $4,190 per year.\n(2) In a borough with a population of 5,000 or more but less than 10,000, a maximum of $8,385 per year.\n(3) In a borough with a population of 10,000 or more but less than 15,000, a maximum of $12,575 per year.\n(4) In a borough with a population in excess of 15,000, a maximum of $840 per year per 1,000 residents or fraction of 1,000, the population to be determined by the latest official census figures.\n(a.1) Treatment of benefits.--Benefits provided to the mayor under section 1202(26) (relating to specific powers) shall not be considered pay, salary or compensation, but payment for all or a part of the premiums or charges for the benefits shall be in accordance with section 1202(26).\n(b) Change in salary.--A change in salary, compensation or emoluments of the elected office shall become effective at the beginning of the next term of the mayor.","path":["Title 8 - BOROUGHS AND INCORPORATED TOWNS","PART I BOROUGHS","CHAPTER 10A MAYOR"],"source_url":"https://www.palegis.us/statutes/consolidated/view-statute?txtType=HTM\u0026ttl=08\u0026div=0\u0026chpt=0\u0026sctn=0\u0026subsctn=0","current_through":"2026-04-02 (Statute Update stamp, 8 Pa.C.S.)","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-02T16:30:38Z","sha256":"cdd0faed64358f433e31e3f96ebe7264aa93cd8bd8562b8b3f884b9204643e7f","source_id":"us-pa","stale":false,"prev":"us-pa/8-pa.c.s.-10a03","next":"us-pa/8-pa.c.s.-10a05"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
