Laws § 11-68-3","heading":"Penalties for violations.","body":"(a) Any person convicted of exploiting an elder person as provided under this chapter shall be punished as follows:\n(1) If the funds, assets, or property involved in the exploitation of the elder person are valued at less than five hundred dollars ($500), the person shall be subject to imprisonment for not more than five (5) years or by a fine of not more than five thousand dollars ($5,000) or both.\n(2) If the funds, assets, or property involved in the exploitation of the elder person are valued at five hundred dollars ($500) or more, but less than one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000), the person shall be subject to imprisonment for not more than fifteen (15) years or by a fine of not more than ten thousand dollars ($10,000) or both.\n(3) If the funds, assets, or property involved in the exploitation of the elder person are valued at one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) or more, the person shall be subject to imprisonment for not more than thirty (30) years or by a fine of not more than fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000) or both.","path":["Title 11 Criminal Offenses","Chapter 68 Exploitation of Elder Persons"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE11/11-68/11-68-3.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T19:55:21Z","sha256":"4eac1f22230b7f1f9d3ea375365aa355b936b57c543f679cadaf169b52f751ed","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-11-68-2","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-11-69-1"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
