Laws § 11-9-21","heading":"Prohibition of sale of certain dietary supplements to minors.","body":"(a) It shall be a misdemeanor for any manufacturer, wholesaler, retailer, or other person, to sell, transfer, or otherwise furnish any of the following to a person under 18 years of age:\n(1) A dietary supplement containing an ephedrine group alkaloid.\n(2) A dietary supplement containing any of the following:\n(A) Androstanedoil.\n(B) Androstanedione.\n(C) Androstenedione.\n(D) Noradrostenediol.\n(E) Norandrostenedione.\n(F) Dehydroepiandrosterone.\n(b) The seller shall request valid identification from any individual who attempts to purchase a dietary supplement set forth in subsection (a) if that individual reasonably appears to the seller to be under 18 years of age.\n(c) Notwithstanding subsections (a) and (b), a retail clerk who fails to request identification pursuant to subsection (b) of this section shall not be guilty of a misdemeanor, subject to any civil penalties, or subject to any disciplinary action or discharge by his or her employer.","path":["Title 11 Criminal Offenses","Chapter 9 Children"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE11/11-9/11-9-21.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T19:55:11Z","sha256":"5d6454d29569b2dd12c4bd958a646308604cc34ede67988e07f3f27ebdaca429","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-11-9-20","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-11-9.1-1"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
