Laws § 12-29.1-3","heading":"Definitions.","body":"The following words as used in this chapter have the following meanings:\n(1) “Elderly person” means any person over the age of sixty (60) years.\n(2) “Victim” means any elderly person who has been subjected to a crime of violence.\n(3) “Violent crimes” includes, but is not limited to, any of the following crimes:\n(i) Breaking and entering (§ 11-8-2.3);\n(ii) Felony assaults (§§ 11-5-1, 11-5-2, 11-5-4, 11-5-10, 11-5-10.1, 11-5-10.4);\n(iii) Simple Assaults (§ 11-5-3);\n(iv) Kidnapping (§ 11-26-1);\n(v) Sexual Assault (§§ 11-37-2, 11-37-4); and\n(vi) Homicide (§§ 11-23-1, 11-23-3).","path":["Title 12 Criminal Procedure","Chapter 29.1 Elderly Violence Prevention Act"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE12/12-29.1/12-29.1-3.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T19:55:29Z","sha256":"21de05e351063e4c3c87b0c217f3d8c2c7dd019e5033b3c323e584f2342e16c6","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-12-29.1-2","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-12-29.1-4"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
