Laws § 15-23.1-206","heading":"Continuing jurisdiction to enforce child support order.","body":"(a) A tribunal of this state that has issued a child-support order consistent with the law of this state may serve as an initiating tribunal to request a tribunal of another state to enforce:\n(1) The order, if the order is the controlling order, and has not been modified by a tribunal of another state that assumed jurisdiction pursuant to the Uniform Interstate Family Support Act; or\n(2) A money judgment for arrears of support and interest on the order accrued before a determination that an order of a tribunal of another state is the controlling order.\n(b) A tribunal of this state having continuing jurisdiction over a support order may act as a responding tribunal to enforce the order.","path":["Title 15 Domestic Relations","Chapter 23.1 Uniform Interstate Family Support Act","Article 2 Jurisdiction"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE15/15-23.1/15-2/15-23.1-206.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T19:55:39Z","sha256":"f71c8ed119be1a4418aabd6b1df8968a0cfa39a29bd45e9299a43131bc972c5a","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-15-23.1-205","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-15-23.1-207"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
