Laws § 15-23.1-506","heading":"Contest by obligor.","body":"(a) An obligor may contest the validity or enforcement of an income-withholding order issued in another state and received directly by an employer in this state by registering the order in a tribunal of this state and filing a contest to that order as provided in Article 6, or otherwise contesting the order in the same manner as if the order had been issued by a tribunal of this state.\n(b) The obligor shall give notice of the contest to:\n(1) A support enforcement agency providing services to the obligee;\n(2) Each employer that has directly received an income-withholding order relating to the obligor; and\n(3) The person designated to receive payments in the income-withholding order or, if no person is designated, to the obligee.","path":["Title 15 Domestic Relations","Chapter 23.1 Uniform Interstate Family Support Act","Article 5 Enforcement of Support Without Registration"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE15/15-23.1/15-5/15-23.1-506.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T19:55:39Z","sha256":"0f927c95f07717a0115d9a0d74a11dab5cdae77e3c964870d966e4ad984b5522","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-15-23.1-505","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-15-23.1-507"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
