Laws § 15-3-12","heading":"Endorsement and return of license.","body":"(a) Every minister, elder, justice, warden, or other person who joins any persons in marriage, shall:\n(b) Endorse the “License and Certificate of Marriage” form, prescribed pursuant to § 15-2-7, presented to him or her by the persons, as provided in § 15-3-7, and certify that the persons have been joined in marriage by him or her in accordance with the laws of the state of Rhode Island; and\n(c) Complete all the information on the “License and Certificate of Marriage” and file the form within seventy-two (72) hours following the date of the marriage with the clerk in the town or city from which the license was issued.","path":["Title 15 Domestic Relations","Chapter 3 Solemnization of Marriages"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE15/15-3/15-3-12.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T19:55:34Z","sha256":"71c7c3b56c2bc73c5927d1de392da648ccbe2f6e0cfef02d256b67cad08de384","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-15-3-11","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-15-3-13"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
