Laws § 15-8.1-110","heading":"Orders.","body":"(a) In a proceeding under this chapter, the court may issue an interim order for support of a child in accordance with the child support guidelines under § 15-5-16.2 and as established by the family court with respect to an individual who is:\n(1) A presumed, acknowledged, or adjudicated parent of the child;\n(2) Petitioning to have parentage adjudicated;\n(3) Identified as the genetic parent through genetic testing under article 6 of this chapter;\n(4) An alleged genetic parent who has declined to submit to genetic testing;\n(5) Shown by a preponderance of evidence to be a parent of the child;\n(6) The individual who gave birth to the child, other than a gestational carrier; or\n(7) A parent under this chapter.\n(b) In a proceeding under this chapter, the court may make an interim order regarding parental rights and responsibilities on a temporary basis.\n(c) Final orders concerning child support or parent rights and responsibilities shall be governed by title 15.","path":["Title 15 Domestic Relations","Chapter 8.1 Uniform Parentage Act","Article 1 Definitions, Scope and General Provisions"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE15/15-8.1/15-1/15-8.1-110.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T19:55:36Z","sha256":"b5fc1ef9db6b89fb5ab725513f0e684c20790d0c4f6a3c2f803fb891e0fb199b","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-15-8.1-109","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-15-8.1-111"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
