Laws § 16-42.2-3","heading":"Operations.","body":"The department of elementary and secondary education shall:\n(1) Establish policies and procedures for the academy consistent with this chapter;\n(2) Carry out the following responsibilities:\n(i) Inform all school systems of the functions and funding of the academy;\n(ii) Review and approve proposals submitted by local school systems;\n(iii) Help to create new and productive approaches of providing direct services to meet the needs of LEP gifted and talented students;\n(iv) Consult with the gifted and LEP state advisory committees on the operation of the academy program;\n(v) Assure that services funded under the academy’s auspices are direct and supplementary services to LEP gifted and talented students;\n(vi) Monitor funded programs;\n(vii) Report on progress of programs funded under the academy.","path":["Title 16 Education","Chapter 42.2 Rhode Island Academy for Gifted and Talented Limited English Proficient Students"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE16/16-42.2/16-42.2-3.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T19:55:51Z","sha256":"1c49cdac462ccc8330677e0d8fdba34f3eca2dfe20afc53944818c71a9eeecf0","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-16-42.2-2","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-16-43-1"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
