Laws § 16-66-2","heading":"Findings.","body":"The general assembly has found and declares that:\n(1) In-service education is different from pre-service education. Effective staff development programs are directed at educational improvements and also encourage the professional development of individual participants.\n(2) In-service education, whether local, state, or federally supported, must be designed as an integral part of the school program.\n(3) The most effective in-service education programs are those with a high degree of participant control.\n(4) In-service education programs most beneficial to students are those designed primarily to improve the quality of teaching in a school or department of a school.\n(5) In-service education programs most beneficial to school department staff are those that are designed to improve professional practices and/or provide professional growth and stimulation.","path":["Title 16 Education","Chapter 66 The Rhode Island School Staff Institute"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE16/16-66/16-66-2.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T19:55:55Z","sha256":"f31afaa5a59ea545f8153205cca0e07124004254beee950c7f2719092d26c1b5","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-16-66-1","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-16-66-3"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
