Laws § 16-93-2","heading":"Definitions.","body":"For the purpose of this chapter, the following words shall have the following meanings:\n(1) “Genocide,” as defined by the Genocide Convention: means any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial, or religious group, such as: (i) Killing members of the group; (ii) Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group; (iii) Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part; (iv) Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group; and/or (v) Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.\n(2) “Holocaust” means the systematic, bureaucratic, state-sponsored persecution and murder of approximately six million (6,000,000) Jews and five million (5,000,000) other individuals by the Nazi regime and its collaborators.","path":["Title 16 Education","Chapter 93 Holocaust and Genocide Education in Secondary Schools [See Title 16 Chapter 97 — the Rhode Island Board of Education Act]"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE16/16-93/16-93-2.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T19:55:57Z","sha256":"91c9b82f4d6c25799ff55d2e1cdd0dc3277d7e1c5dda77d90de8cbc2975e8362","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-16-93-1","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-16-93-3"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
