Laws § 18-7-7","heading":"Other transfer by fiduciary.","body":"(a) Subject to subsection (c) of this section, a personal representative or trustee may make an irrevocable transfer to another adult or trust company as custodian for the benefit of a minor pursuant to § 18-7-10, in the absence of a will or under a will or trust that does not contain an authorization to do so.\n(b) Subject to subsection (c) of this section, a conservator may make an irrevocable transfer to another adult or trust company as custodian for the benefit of the minor pursuant to § 18-7-10.\n(c) A transfer under subsection (a) or (b) of this section may be made only if:\n(1) The personal representative, trustee, or conservator considers the transfer to be in the best interest of the minor;\n(2) The transfer is not prohibited by or inconsistent with provisions of the applicable will, trust agreement, or other governing instrument; and\n(3) The transfer is authorized by the court if it exceeds ten thousand dollars ($10,000) in value.","path":["Title 18 Fiduciaries","Chapter 7 Uniform Transfers to Minors Act"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE18/18-7/18-7-7.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T19:56:08Z","sha256":"515404adebbc0abd72382d745c53f44b640b310f3fba62f349005875aab98f08","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-18-7-6","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-18-7-8"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
