Laws § 18-7-8","heading":"Transfer by obligor.","body":"(a) Subject to subsections (b) and (c) of this section, a person not subject to § 18-7-6 or 18-7-7, who holds property of or owes a liquidated debt to a minor not having a conservator, may make an irrevocable transfer to a custodian for the benefit of the minor pursuant to § 18-7-10.\n(b) If a person having the right to do so under § 18-7-4 has nominated a custodian under that section to receive the custodial property, the transfer must be made to that person.\n(c) If no custodian has been nominated under § 18-7-4, or all persons nominated as custodian die before the transfer or are unable, decline, or are ineligible to serve, a transfer under this section may be made to an adult member of the minor’s family or to a trust company unless the property exceeds ten thousand dollars ($10,000) in value.","path":["Title 18 Fiduciaries","Chapter 7 Uniform Transfers to Minors Act"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE18/18-7/18-7-8.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T19:56:08Z","sha256":"80800c8d5fc159d551289083052188c29ffcf34a244f4010a283e417935b1d70","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-18-7-7","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-18-7-9"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
