Laws § 20-38-5","heading":"Powers and duties.","body":"The collaborative shall support and work collaboratively with the Rhode Island fishing community to promote the marketing and sustainability of Rhode Island seafood, including but not limited to:\n(1) Identifying regulatory restrictions preventing and/or inhibiting local seafood marketing initiatives and identifying opportunities to remove those regulatory restrictions;\n(2) Identifying and facilitating opportunities to increase consumer demand for local seafood;\n(3) Identifying and facilitating opportunities to establish agreements with local fishermen and seafood dealers for potential seafood marketplace expansion;\n(4) Reviewing and identifying existing studies, pilot programs and initiatives of this state and other states regarding seafood-marketing practices;\n(5) Providing educational opportunities for consumers and the fishing community regarding local seafood issues and initiatives;\n(6) Identifying funding sources available to the fishing community to support seafood marketing;\n(7) Responding to requests for information from the legislature and commenting on proposed legislation;\n(8) Issuing recommendations necessary to achieve these goals;\n(9) Identifying opportunities for potential funding to support Rhode Island seafood marketing efforts and initiatives.","path":["Title 20 Fish and Wildlife","Chapter 38 The Rhode Island Seafood Marketing Collaborative of 2011"],"source_url":"https://webserver.rilegislature.gov/Statutes/TITLE20/20-38/20-38-5.htm","current_through":"site files published 2025-08-13","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T19:56:22Z","sha256":"5b629792494e06145d01be228eb6c18900c5dcc009a06e2ed39ea72f05f95076","source_id":"us-ri","stale":true,"prev":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-20-38-4","next":"us-ri/r.i.-gen.-laws-20-38-6"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
